Short intro

Only a Japanese band could title its album Super Ethnic Flavor, but the fact is that Molca's music actually has a super ethnic flavor. The quintet leaves no frontiers uncrossed and no instrument untouched. Exclusively acoustic, the instrumentation is comprised of flute, fiddle, guitar, pianobass, and percussion, but each musician plays several versions of his or her instrument, according to the style du jour. Super Ethnic Flavor. To all appearances, Super Ethnic Flavor is the debut CD by MOLCA. The ensemble doesn't have a website thus far. As far as I can remember, this is already the third of the newest Japanese outfits appealing to various kinds of folk music of planet Earth save their native one. The album has an almost a purely acoustic, at times nearly chamber, sound and is filled with inflammatory melodies. Nevertheless, it is mainly destined only to fans of traditional folk music.
