Long Ambients 1: Calm. is the twelfth studio album by American electronica musician Moby. It was released on February 25, 2016, as a free download on his Little Pine restaurant Web site and his own Web site. The album consists of around four hours of recordings Moby produced for his own personal listening, and which he subsequently made available for downloading and streaming, without cost or licensing. The artists passion for ambient sounds has a long lineage, including his material on 1993s Ambient, and on his reissue of Hotel: Ambient in 2014, which repackaged instrumentals that were part of a bonus disc from 2005s Hotel. Following the success of Long Ambients 1: Calm. Moby releases the follow-up album, the appropriately titled Long Ambients Two. The new instalment replicates the style of the original album, but takes the listeners on a deeper and more immersive journey with six soothing tracks, running almost four hours.
