The Millikin Symphonic Wind Ensemble, under the new direction of Dr. Corey Seapy, offers an unparalleled experience in musicianship. Thanks to the leadership of Dr. Gary Shaw for over three decades, the Symphonic Wind Ensemble has flourished in Central Illinois and beyond, performing at state and regional conventions, and on tour in New York City and the Dominican Republic. Frequent guest conductors and soloists have visited Millikin to perform with the MSWE. Notable guest conductors include Stephen Eggelston, Garrett Gillingham, Robert Grechesky, Charles Menghini, John P. Paynter, and. This is the place for all things JAZZ at Millikin University. Millikin University is a private university in Decatur, Illinois. It was founded in 1901 by prominent Decatur businessman James Millikin and is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church USA. The Decaturian, also known as the Dec official nickname, is the bi-weekly student newspaper. The Decaturian was established in 1903 and its issues are archived online from 19031951, made possible by the Digital-Decaturian Project.
