Allison attended high school in Modesto, California, and in his mid-teens became lead singer of a rock band, Brimstone. He then joined another band, Skyway, as bass player, and toured widely with them in the Pacific Northwest and the South. When he was 18, he met musician Naux Juan Maciel, who introduced him to the teachings of Paramahansa Yogananda. His albums included Providence 2002, The Zen Masters Diary 2002, Autumns Apple 2004, From Pale Hands To Weary Skies 2008, A Day Within Days 2010, and Dream In Blue 2011. I mean talk about big shoes to fill I gushed over the organic, multi-instrumental, world-ambient artistry of the inaugral Lotuspike release, The Gate by Terra Ambient, so my expectations were very, very high going into Autumn's Apple by Darshan AmbientMichael Allison. Would this record create its own voice. Instead, Allison pulls off a remarkable feat: Each and every track, and thus the work as a whole, accomplishes a wonderfully balanced rhythmic and atmospheric ambience. But more than a demonstration of impressive technical skill, the sounds that emanate from the core of Autumn's Apple feel effortless. From start to finish, Autumn's Apple is a delight both sonically and emotionally. One can't help but be drawn into it's charms. I love an album that fits in nicely with the slow sort of waking that comes on Sunday mornings, the kind of waking where you drift in and out of reality, one foot each in the dream- and material-worlds. Autumn's Apple is a perfect disc for that kind of duality, a perfect disc to straddle that kind of consciousness. a brilliant highly recommend the disc - Bill B
