Short intro
Quicken The Heart - Maxïmo Park. Лента с персональными рекомендациями и музыкальными новинками, радио, подборки на любой вкус, удобное управление своей коллекцией. Quicken the Heart is the third studio album by Maxïmo Park. It was released on 11 May 2009. It debuted at No. 6 on the UK Albums Chart. A T-shirt was also made available with the album. The album was produced by Nick Launay, of Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Nick Cave and Talking Heads production fame. Maximo Park worked with producer Nick Launay on Quicken the Heart, and he steers the band away from Our Earthly Pleasures' slickness and toward a slightly rawer, guitar-based sound that recalls A Certain Trigger. Yet Quicken the Heart isn't as accessible as their debut - not because the band is taking experimental risks, but because too often, the hooks and melodies don't jump out as they have before. Wraithlike is an exception, crashing in on sirens and emphatic drums, but other songs that aim for high drama fall short. The Kids Are Sick Again wants to. Paul Smith's erudite vocab you don't get words such as circumnavigation with the Kooks is a minor joy itself, but his way with a subtly perceptive couplet She's dressed upIt's her duty to the town is far more precious. However, fist-punching choruses are absent, and awkward, lurching time signatures abound. It often sounds strangely half-formed, like a clutch of demos rather than a band at the height of their powers. Glass-half-full assessment: an album that'll grow, rather than a band that's shrinking.
