Short intro
She was one of the earliest signings to the Beatles' Apple label. Hopkin was born into a Welsh-speaking family in Pontardawe, Wales her father worked as a housing officer. She took weekly singing lessons as a child and began her musical career as a folk singer with a local group called the Selby. There was an album of the same title released on Decca in the late '70s which also had a catalog number 546, and the material on this disc could well be the same as what was compiled for that Decca LP. However, this CD's liner notes do not give specific dates or much information whatsoever about its tracks, and without handy recourse to an exhaustive Mary Hopkin discography, it cannot definitely be assumed that this is indeed just a bootlegpirate of the Decca LP.
