The Bermuda Viereck on this album is made up of Schlumph's stalwart companions: pianist Christopher Baumann, percussionist Stephan Diethelm who plays a hell of a marimba, and vocalist Susi Petersen. Cumuli is a collection of compositions centering around singular- or double-harmonic ideas, opened up by the front-line melodics of Schlumph or Peterson and held tight to the mast by Baumann and Deithelm. When the latter is playing marimba, he uses it like a front-line instrument, playing rhythm, accents, fills, elaborations, and extensions of existing harmonic invention these are played ou.
