Ma Ja Le is Chris Short and Paul Vnuk Jr. Dreams in the Orchards of Saturn is their debut CD. They recorded the music live in concert as they improvised. They had a structure within which to work, but no preconceived pattern - they merely let their moods determine the composition. This is a set of deep, dramatic electro-tribal ambience. Short's wizardry on the electronic guitar sets the stage for Vnuk's ethnic percussion. Both artists perform on synths and loops. Short's flute gives the soundscape a little extra panache. The idea was to simply get together on stage and through improvisation, create compelling instrumental music which focused on texture and atmosphere as well as melody.
