Grit is the third album by Norwegian band Madrugada. The album saw the band once again taking a vastly different approach to their previous release featuring a much rawer and at times more experimental sound with Krautrock and garage rock influences taking precedence. The album also featured one of the band's most well known songs in the softly atmospheric ballad Majesty. Grit - Madrugada. Sure, Madrugada's previous album, the dark The Nightly Disease, had its rockier moments, but nothing as in-your-face as this opening pair. On these two songs, and on the notably weaker Kurt Vonnegut-influenced Come Back Billy Pilgrim, you can clearly hear a Stooges influence. Try is another rocker, more in the vein of Let It Bleed-era Rolling Stones. Seven Seconds is a rocksteady blues-tinged romp that wastes all Scandinavian conventions, as Madrugada take a cue from their neighboring Swedish rivals, The Hives. On Blood Shot Adult Commitment, vocalist Sivert Hoyem displays his ample talent, curling his lips as he spits searing emotional indictments with a honed elegance. While Madrugada manage to evade sobriety in their sound, Hoyem's lyrics can't seem to avoid digging at a ponderous philosophical underpinning
