Laub's DEINETWEGEN starts with the blues country twang of "Covering," which suggests a new direction from them, away from the colder electronica and more towards a warmer sound. A touch of that twang persists into the title track, though Laub's traditional iciness also comes through, but it blossoms once more on "Tofu," aided and abetted by background noise. "Schnee" revels in the hiss, with longer synth washes, a result, possibly, of their collaboration with Vladislav Delay. And this path continues into Greie-Fuchs' wavering vocals with "D-Land" or the dirty groove of "Analog." The album ends, though, with the chaos of "Ruf," which goes all over the place. Overall, a change of pace from them, sure, but not one that's been fully realized yet.
