Blender magazine on their last album: Alpine Static by Kinski, released 12 July 2005 1. Blender magazine on their last album: they follow measured guitar burn with bone-rattling explosions, and roll mesmerizing tension into colossal release. Alpine Static is their second full-length for Sub Pop and finds the band capturing the explosive rush and emotional power of their live shows, where they range from sweeping, pastoral interludes through headlong, thunderous charges. Recorded in January of 2005, Alpine Static is an immediate, visceral record. Album 2005 9 Songs. More By Kinski. Kinski will never run out of bitchin' titles. Proven: 1999's Space Launch for Frenchie, the 2003 LP Airs Above Your Station, and Alpine Static in 2005. The rhythms are more deliberate in parts of Static - occasionally there's a whiff of stoner rock, or maybe Burning Brides without vocals - but the consistent pace of Hot Stenographer and Hiding Drugs in the Temple, Pt. 2 suits the Seattle quartet as well as their documented spaced-out side. In fact, Hiding Drugs effectively does both. Songs in album Kinski - Alpine Static 2005. Kinski - Hot Stenographer. Kinski - The Wives Of Artie Shaw. Kinski - Hiding Drugs In The Temple Part 2. Alpine Static is an album that succeeds as a complete piece. Nevermind the compelling dynamics and structure of each indevidual song, 'Static is organized as a fully-functioning artistic manifestation Hot Stenographer, The Wives of Artie Shaw, etc. being the tendrils. Although not quite as perhaps rambling as their first Sub Pop release, Alpine Static's tracks are more consistently driven by harder riffs. Live, it is readily apparent that this slight shift in focus loses none of the intensity of the buildups and climaxes that this band can so skillfully construe Hot S. I love these guys. They are the sound at the core of my soul.
This is a great album for fans of old-school, raw psychedelia. Kinski are sound purists. No digital effects are employed. This is stripped down analog sound- you may be unfamiliar with that concept. There is nothing overproduced or pretentious about this album.
The tracks, sonically, are not less than a landing 747 flying 150 feet directly over your head.
Don't buy this album if that idea doesn't appeal to you.

I got to see them live and they were every bit as good as their disk. Kinski ROCKS!

Otherwise, here are the ingredients found in this album:
- Black Sabbath's heavy riff (with a riff squarely pumped to Black Sabbath in the opening title!)
- QOTSA "drone guitars"
- Crossing guitar walls like Sonic Youth
- finally, also to announce an influence King Crimson (first album) on a nice title with flute and felted atmosphere: "All Your Kids Have Turned to Static".
