Nathan Woods Mild High Club and King Gizzard come together to make a very psychadelic album about the bands home town in Melbourne, Australia. It's pretty cool. Favorite track: Sketches Of Brunswick East II. transce I can't believe I didn't like this album at first, now it's one of my favorites. The subtleties and depth of this album are hard to grasp at first. But the gems slowly reveal themselves with each additional listen. Many songs have street sounds gently mixed into the background in a way that adds texture and flavor to the songs. This album is a psychedel. Sketches of Brunswick East is the eleventh studio album by Australian psychedelic rock band King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, and the third by Mild High Club. The title is a reference to the Melbourne suburb of Brunswick East and Miles Davis' 1960 LP Sketches of Spain, which inspired the album's jazz-oriented sound. It was released on 18 August 2017 by Flightless Records in Australia, ATO Records in the United States, and Heavenly Recordings in the United Kingdom. It is the third of five albums. Sketches of Brunswick East is a collaboration with Mild High Club, which came about as the bands toured the world together. The two bands worked by essentially sampling themselves, piecing together bits of reworked recordings to form a complete song. Presumably, its Brettins laidback style that mellowed King Gizzards frantic demeanor. The album opens with acoustic piano courtesy of Brettin as drummer Michael Cavanagh joins in with a feathery, double-tracked part and Mackenzie does his best Genesis-era Peter Gabriel impression on flute.
