Short intro
Kim Richey's third album, Glimmer, continues her evolution toward a mainstream pop sound. Unfortunately, this evolution doesn't represent any artistic growth in fact, the album in some ways is a step backward. Producer Hugh Padgham best-known for his work with Genesis, the Police, and Sting and chosen by Richey because of his production of XTC's English Settlement bathes the songs in a rather bland wash of sound, a significant change from the crisp production that characterized her first two albums. The production matches the lyrics, however, which are burnished to the point. Kimberly Kim Richey is an American singer and songwriter. Richey came onto the music scene in the 1990s and entered her first recording contract at the age of 37. Her songs have been recorded by Trisha Yearwood Believe Me Baby I Lied, Radney Foster Nobody Wins, and Brooks & Dunn Every River. Her May 1995 self-titled debut album was produced by Richard Bennett. It contained the singles Just My Luck and Those Words We Said. Kim Richey. Glimmer, 1999. Can't Lose Them All, 03:39. Other Side of Town, 04:29. Come Around, 03:54. Lay It Down, 04:14. The Way It Never Was, 03:09. Good at Secrets, 04:18. On Kim Richey's 1999 album GLIMMER, we find the singersongwriter moving closer to a more contemporary crossover country sound. That is not a bad thing either. Richey is still writing mature songs that emulate real emotions and feelings that people go through on a day to day basis. There are 14 tracks on GLIMMER, all of which are analytical of relationships and life, and all its glory and dark sides. The album starts off strong with the uptempo song Can't Lose Them All. One of my favorites is Hello Old Friend, about running into an old love and catching up wit. Album 1999 14 Songs. 14 tracks 54:36. Glimmer is ranked 85,848th in the overall chart, 14,884th in the 1990s, and 1,806th in the year 1999. Kim Richey - Glimmer 1999 Condition: Very Good. Time left: 20h 48m 10s Ships to: Worldwide.
