Short intro

What's THIS For. is the second studio album by English post-punk band Killing Joke, released in June 1981 by E. Like Killing Joke's debut album, What's THIS For. was self-produced by the band. It was engineered by Hugh Padgham and Nick Launay. Launay, Padgham's assistant at that time, finished the album after an altercation that resulted in damage to the mixing desk, causing Padgham to leave before the album was mixed. Launay continued to work under the band's direction. The album's. Killing Joke - What's THIS For. To favorites 5 Download album. Listen album. Killing Joke. The second LP from UK post-punk legends Killing Joke, originally released in 1981 on EG and reissued by Virgin in 2005 as part of their Killing free to Killing Joke What's THIS For. The Fall Of Because, Tension and more. 8 tracks 36:31. If not quite as remarkable as the band's gripping self-titled debut, What's THIS For. showed that Killing Joke could maintain their frenetic, doom-wracked intensity while experimenting with their already strongly established style. Jaz Coleman's vocals go through even more treatments and tweaks than before, chorus shout-alongs swathed in deep echoes, hidden behind Geordie Walker's punishing riffs and the steroid-driven rhythm section. As far as follow-ups to debuts are involved, Whats This For is both a natural continuation as well as a showcase of how unpredictable the band was in terms of defying expectations. Aside from the albums hit single Follow The Leaders which isnt as representative of the rest of the album as any fan would or wouldnt wish, the remainder of the LP is a mixture of simple brutalism, stripped down songs without much artifice, but by no means lacking in their intensity, both as individual pieces and as a whole. is a non-metal music album recording by KILLING JOKE released in 1981 on CD, LPVinyl andor cassette.
