Born and raised in New York City, Kenny Rankin was a singersongwriter whose music combined jazz, folk and pop influences. Between 1967 and 2002, he released 13 albu. Featuring 20 tracks, Peaceful: The Best of Kenny Rankin is a comprehensive overview of the singersongwriter's career. Most of the material is drawn Rankin's pop material, not his latter-day jazz interpretations. Rankin never had any hits, but all of his most popular songs are featured on this single-disc set, making it an excellent introduction to his smooth, jazz-inflected style. Peaceful is a song written by Kenny Rankin, and recorded by several artists. It is best known in the hit singles for Georgie Fame 1969 and Helen Reddy 1973. Introduced by Rankin on his 1967 debut album Mind Dusters on Mercury Records, Peaceful was recorded by Bobbie Gentry for her 1968 album Local Gentry on Capitol Records. A 1969 single recording by Georgie Fame-produced by Mike Smith and arrangedconducted by Keith Mansfield for CBS-reached number 16 in UK that summer. Fame's version of.
