This disc presents six excerpts - including a complete side of the Osaka concert - from Keith Jarrett's Sun Bear Concerts, a ten-record set of five solo concerts performed in Japan in November 1976.Short intro
In the opening Kyoto concert, Jarrett's gospel-driven muse is in full play, up to the level of his peak solo performances in Bremen and Koln, and the Osaka and Nagoya concerts have pockets of first-rate, often folk-like, even profound, lyrical ideas. The Tokyo concert takes a while to get in gear, but when Jarrett finally locks into one of his grooving vamps, he carries us along, and there is a memorably melodic encore. Sun Bear Concerts is a multi-concert album compilation of solo piano performances by Keith Jarrett that took place during his November 1976 tour in Japan. It was originally released as a ten-LP set and then as a six-CD box set containing 5 concerts plus encores, totalling 6:37:46 of music applause included. The structures of the documented concerts follow a similar pattern: two very long non-stop improvisations from 31 to 43 minutes approx plus a possible encore. Accordingly, it was not until the.
