Short intro

HymnsSpheres is a solo album by Keith Jarrett recorded at the Benedictine Abbey in Ottobeuren, Germany. The album consists of improvisations on the massive Karl Joseph Riepp Trinity Baroque pipe organ, the larger of the two Karl Joseph Riepp 1710-1775 organs at the Benedictine Abbey in Ottobeuren. The original double-LP was released by ECM Records in November 1976, only three months after being recorded. Shades is the fifth album on the Impulse label by jazz pianist Keith Jarrett. Originally released in 1976, it features performances by Jarrett's 'American Quartet', which included Dewey Redman, Charlie Haden and Paul Motian with Guilherme Franco added on percussion. Aside from appearing in the Mysteries: The Impulse Years 1975-1976 boxset, Shades was only issued on compact disc in Japan, packaged in a miniature replica of the original vinyl LP sleeve. In October 2011, it was reissued internationally. Arguably one of his most misunderstood recordings, Spirits is a double album by Keith Jarrett on which he does not perform solo piano, jazz standards or the kind of music he is usually known for. Instead he performs vocals, guitar, glockenspiel, soprano saxophone, recorder, piano, tabla, flutes and percussion on multiple tracks that were recorded at his home studio aka Cavelight Studios in New Jersey. It was released by ECM Records in 1986 and Jarrett dedicated it to his wife Rose Ann Colavito. Songs in album Keith Jarrett - Hymns-Spheres 1976. Keith Jarrett - Hymn Of Remembrance. Restlessly searching out new territory for improvisations, Keith Jarrett tackles the massive Karl Joseph Riepp Trinity Baroque pipe organ at the Benedictine Abbey in Ottobeuren, Germany. He starts out with a pastoral Hymn of Remembrance, then embarks upon a long nine-movement series of Spheres before closing with a grand Hymn of Release. Keith Jarrett.
