Night Train is an EP by English rock band Keane. The EP's title and material was born out of the group's Perfect Symmetry World Tour of 20082009. Night Train debuted at number 1 on the UK Albums Chart. The EP was recorded in various studios during the Perfect Symmetry World tour, and mastered at Abbey Road Studios. Tracks Stop for a Minute and Looking Back mark Keane's collaboration with SomaliCanadian rapper K'Naan. I think those tracks show us in a completely different light, says Keane. Night Train. Night Train has been released just 18 months after Perfect Symmetry, which included the song Spiralling. The band wrote the songs on the EP while touring to promote the album. Drummer Richard Hughes said the songs were inspired by all parts of the world particulary South America. The EP is the flipside of touring for a year, where each night we'd play a song that we'd had for years, he said. Writing and recording on the road meant that we could be creative. Meanwhile, grime collective Roll Deep topped the singles chart for the third we. Keane's most recent release Night Train features eight refreshingly innovative tracks written and recorded while the band was on a 28-country arena tour in support of their album Perfect Symmetry. Night Train includes several songs that challenge the boundaries of genre via unique collaborations with SomaliCanadian rapper K'Naan and Japanese funk singer Tigarah. The album has already been lauded for its signature brooding rock combined with synth-pop flourishes, leading Rolling Stone to say that with its 'brass-bolstered soul' and 'electro-flavored. While this eight-track mini-album contains several tracks on which Keane's anthemic old style lumbers through its motions there are some interesting new directions which suggest a creative restlessness on songwriterproducer Tim Rice-Oxley's part.
