Hubardo is the sixth studio album, a concept double album, by Kayo Dot, self-released and funded through pre-orders on frontman Toby Driver's Ice Level Records in 2013. It is the follow up to Gamma Knife, which was released in 2012. It is Kayo Dot's longest album and its first double album, and contains aspects of black metal, post-rock, jazz fusion, and chamber music. It was picked as the 4th best album of 2013 on indie music website SputnikMusic. Album 2013 11 Songs. Kayo Dot. Prog-RockArt Rock is the sixth album, a concept double album, by Kayo Dot, self-released and funded through pre-orders on frontman Toby Driver's Ice Level Records in 2013. It is considered a throwback to maudlin of the Well and early Kayo Dot recordings, containing much more metal-style harsh vocals by Driver and collaborator Jason Byron than any Kayo Dot album. It also contains much more repet. After ten years of being a band, Kayo Dot releases what might be its gaudiest album. However, I can't help but be enamored with the strong playing, ambitious concept, and impressive mix of influences most of the time. Recording information: Recorded and mixed in April 2013 at Avast . Kayo Dot - Hubardo review: After 10 years of waiting, building, and careful preparation, Kayo Dot crafts their finest work since Choirs of the Eye. In another sense, Hubardo also has an incredible arsenal of stark individuality and notable composition to it. Not to mention has Jason Bryon written an incredible concept , but has also contributed some very harsh vocals and growls throughout Hubardo. The vocals are an essential puzzle piece in building absolute intensity to the dark, destructive nature of the album. Of course, the musicians cannot be forgotten in any way at all, as they play an even bigger role in the album. Hubardo' - Kayo Dot 1010. Although I've never concealed my love and passion for progressive rock, it's been a genre I've viewed through a jaded lens as of late. The album ends on a surprising note while much of Hubardo has been passed between black metal and more ambient post rock, The Wait of the World closes the album with a psychedelic and very modern take on jazz fusion. As if Robert Fripp and John McLaughlin joined The Mars Volta and had some sort of lurid acid party, it evokes a feeling of eeriness and unease quite unlike the band's metal outputRelated to Kayo Dot - Hubardo
