Kaipa is the first album by Swedish progressive rock band Kaipa, released in 1975, two years after the band formed. Roine Stolt - electric and acoustic guitars, backing vocals. Hans Lundin - Hammond organ, lead vocals, Fender Rhodes and grand pianos, Yamaha SY1 synthesizer, harpsichord, Logan string-machine, glockenspiel. Tomas Eriksson - bass, backing vocals. The band was begun as Ura Kaipa by Hans Lundin keyboards and Tomas Eriksson bass. Roine Stolt joined Kaipa as guitarist when he was 17. In 1974, shortly after they had cut the Ura from the name of the band, they released their self-titled debut album. Stolt, who later founded The Flower Kings, quit after the recording of Mindrevolutions, and the band has continued without him. The original moniker was Ura Kaipa, after a Swedish stone age chieftain. They went through the usual line-up changes and recorded 5 studio albums before finally splitting up in December of 1982. Most notably, in 1974 they had recruited guitarist Roine Stolt, who would later become the mastermind of The Flower Kings.
