Escape' became Journey's biggest selling album and remains, thirty years after its release, the most consistent seller in the catalog. Don't Stop Believin' continued Journey's run of anthemic ballads but this was simply the best and is probably their most popular if not their greatest song. Who's Cryin' Now and Open Arms became prom mainstays but Escape' isn't all sappy love songs. Two of the band's most enduring rockers Stone in Love and the title track showed that Neal Schon could still bl. The album was co-produced by former Lynyrd Skynyrd sound technician Kevin Elson and one-time Queen engineer Mike Stone, who also engineered the album. In 1988, Kerrang readers voted Escape the greatest AOR album of all timeClassic Rock expressed the same opinion in 2008.
