Bruised Orange is the fifth album by American folk singer and songwriter John Prine, released in 1978. Prine remained deeply respected within the industry, and even appeared on the new hit show Saturday Night Live as a substitute for the Beach Boys in 1976, performing Hello in There and The Bottomless Lake. The last cut on the second side, The Hobo Song, is part envoi and part curtain speech, a wanderers warm and desperate memory of an unrouted life on the road. The memory is not firsthand, though, and the image fades to sepia at the center. But, of course, it owes the most to John Prine. This is not an album about a man finally finding his voice Prines already done too much good - if erratic - work for that.
