The End is a song by the English rock band the Beatles from their 1969 album Abbey Road. It was the last song recorded collectively by all four Beatles, and is the final song of the medley that constitutes the majority of side two of the album. The song features one of the few drum solos recorded by Ringo Starr. Love is a song written and performed by John Lennon, originally released on his debut solo album John LennonPlastic Ono Band 1970. The song's theme is more upbeat than most of the songs on Plastic Ono Band. The song first came out on Lennon's 1970 album John LennonPlastic Ono Band. Lennon considered releasing it as a single, but was dropped in favour of Mother. However, Love received considerable airplay at the time from stations who hesitated at playing Mother. Love later appeared on. John Winston Ono Lennon MBE born John Winston Lennon, 9 October 1940 8 December 1980 was an English singer, songwriter and peace activist who gained worldwide fame as the founder, co-lead vocalist, and rhythm guitarist of the Beatles. His songwriting partnership with Paul McCartney remains the most successful in musical history. In 1969, he started the Plastic Ono Band with his second wife, Yoko Ono. After the Beatles disbanded in 1970, Lennon continued as a solo artist and as Ono's collaborator. Make love, not war, I know you've heard it before. John Lennon may have been the quintessential rock star - but rockâs typical womanizing meant less to him than true love. âœIâm not going to sacrifice love, real love,â he told Rolling Stone in 1971 in regard to groupies, swinging and free love. âœIâve been through it all, and nothing works better than to have somebody hold you. His minimal, introspective first solo album, John LennonPlastic Ono Band, used Onos fluxus philosophy as a lens through which to examine his deepest longings and insecurities. McCartney could play Bass, Drums, Guitar & Piano and so, he could pretty much stand on his own if needed. With Abbey Road, the more or less knew they were going to end things and they wanted to make the best record they could and so were all motivated to use each others gifts as fully as possible. My understanding is that with the White Album there was quite a bit of exclusivity - each of them going off into a different studio room at Abbey Road to work on their own stuff. Prior to The White Album, they were, for the most part, still working together as a band on most tracks. Related QuestionsMore Answers Below. Out of all the Beatles, John Lennon had the most interesting - and frustrating - solo career. Lennon was capable of inspired, brutally honest confessional songwriting and melodic songcraft he also had an undying love of straight-ahead rock & roll. But the extremes, both in his music and his life, were what made him fascinating. Where Paul McCartney was content to be a rock star, Lennon dabbled in everything from revolutionary politics to the television talk show circuit during the early '70s.
