Dear You is Jawbreaker's fourth full-length studio album, released on September 12, 1995. It is their only album on the major label DGC Records, and was Jawbreaker's final album before their 21-year breakup from 1996 to 2017. Singerguitarist Blake Schwarzenbach underwent surgery on his vocal cords shortly before the recording of Dear You. Containing much less raspy vocals, the record had higher production values compared to the band's previous albums. Schwarzenbach later confirmed that the move to. Dear You is the fourth and final album released by Jawbreaker, and was the first - and last - album they would record for a major label. It was also polarizing to their fans at the time, who abandoned them en masse when the band cleaned up and polished their sound by signing with DGC Records, an act seen as selling out at the time. Since then, many fans have warmed to the album, albeit posthumously. The initial fan revolt in the face of the bands signing intensified already-present tensions within the band, causing it to implode. Dear You Q&A. Label DGC Records. Album 1995 13 Songs. 1995's Dear You finds Jawbreaker cleaning up and streamlining their punk-pop sound and coming up with a sleek, slick punk-grunge classic that relies as much on clever songwriting and restrained emotions as it does on the group's trademarked high-energy attack. From the opening chords of the anthemic Save Your Generation, Blake Schwarzenbach's vocals are the star. Jawbreaker's final album Dear You is to this day a great example of modern pop punk and is a truly unique album from a truly unique band. Though the tracks sound the same a redeeming quality is that the sound is so unique that it really isn't too much of an issue. Despite the tracks' simalarities and mediocre musicianship i award Jawbreaker's Dear You with a 45. The problem with Dear You wasn't Jawbreaker's decision to renege on their long-standing anti-major-label policy, but that the album, plainly, is a dramatic step down in quality from Revenge Therapy, despite the fact that it took much longer to record. Songs often wander too long, and their lyrics strain for depth in pursuit of the album's overall sad-sack mood. That Dear You killed Jawbreaker is no surprise, given how little it sold by major-league standards, and how divisively fans reacted to itRelated to Jawbreaker - Dear You
