Although never released in America, the album was the first of its kind to be issued as an album of remixes. Jackson's contemporaries Madonna and Jody Watley would release their own remix albums following Jackson and other artists including brother Michael Jackson, R&B queen Mariah Carey, pop diva Jennifer Lopez and R&B group Destiny's Child who released their own remix albums. The dance mix is almost identical to the video version, which is a beefed-up remix of the album version and was unavailable as a single. About a year after the original 1986 release Janet Jackson released a remix album called Control: The Remixes. This collection of re-workings is now being reissued on vinyl and CD. A 2LP gatefold vinyl set features the very same selection across four sides. Its not clear yet if these have all been remastered, although one assumes they probably have.
