Short intro
Wayfarer is an album by the Jan Garbarek Group, featuring the Norwegian saxophonist Garbarek with Bill Frisell, Eberhard Weber and Michael Di Pasqua. It was released in 1983 on the ECM label. Compositions by Jan Garbarek. Gesture 8:48. Wayfarer 9:36. Gentle 5:30. Pendulum 10:24. Spor 7:53. Singsong 4:17. Jan Garbarek tenor and soprano saxophone. Bill Frisell electric guitar. Eberhard Weber double bass. Jan Garbarek's 1983 release, WAYFARER, is characterized by ethereal soundscapes, spacious ensemble playing, and post-Coltrane licks combined with Nordic folk music. Featuring the gifted, idiosyncratic guitarist Bill Frisell and longtime associate Eberhard Weber on bass, this album bears a distinct resemblance to Garbarek's PATHS, PRINTS, which was released only a couple of years earlier. The major difference between the two albums is the presence of Michael DiPasqua on drums, rather than John Christensen. While the compositions on WAYFARER are played with a little more gusto, we hear. Jan Garbarek - Wayfarer 1983. To favorites 3 Download album. Listen album. Jan Garbarek. One of the stablemates of the early ECM sound, the Jan Garbarek Group incorporated a smooth ethereal jazz sound led by Norwegian tenor and soprano saxaphonist Jan Garbarek. Their sound also uses ambient elements which at the time of his popularity was not even an established genre. He has collaborated with some famous jazz musicians, most notably, Paul Motian, Gary Burton, Keith Jarrett and Ralph Towner. View wiki. garbarek jan group wayfarer. ECM - ECM 1259. Price : .
