Jakob Friedrich Kleinknecht came from a family of musicians. His father Johann Kleinknecht 1676-1751 was vice-organist since 1712 at the Cathedral of Ulm and his brothers Johann Wolfgang 1715-1786 and Johann Stephan 1731 - were musicians in Bayreuth and Ansbach.
