I've got two original UK first pressings of this album and neither have the black and white Iggy inner sleeve. Both have a CBS records "The Inner Sleeve" advertising other CBS artists of the time such as Miles Davis, Soft Machine, Tim Hardin and Home etc. The black and white inner does seem more desirable and rarer.

Michael-P ,I've got an original UK issue & I to have a CBS 'the inner sleeve' ...yes I would think the 'Iggy liner' would be more collectable ....do both of your copies have the 'murky /Baffley' mix of Search & Destroy.... There's slight differences of sound on other tracks but I assume this is due to the original CBS ISSUE was quite a heavy vinyl & the Columbia & the '79(?) CBS pressings were quite lightweight by comparison ....

This pressing of "Raw Power" does contain a completely different mix of "Search and Destroy." On this version, the drum sound is very much up front and the end of the song gradually fades out, while on the U.S. pressing of the LP the end cuts off abruptly. I don't know if both mixes were done by Bowie or not but they're both from the original release of the album. I've never heard this version of the song anywhere else.

Tasseltoes... I too have an original UK issue with the VERY different mix of search & destroy....I still don't know if all original copies were like this ...From what I know Mainman(Bowies management team) & CBS were not impressed with iggys mix done in the UK....a few years ago I read an article with D.Bowie & he said they took the tapes to the US for remixing but Iggy would only agree to this if search & destroy was Left as it was... So this would seem to explain the very different sound of S & D....but I still after 35 years since finding an original copy don't know if all original copies had 'Iggys version' of Search & destroy.. As when it was repressed in '77 (Columbia)the track now sounded fine ..& was the standard issue that we all liked that was then picked up by CBS again around '79..... It seems strange that after 'iggys comeback' in '86 he started to say it was a 'weak mix ' & not satisfactory -(but Iggy & Bowie did have a sometimes strained friendship)..everybody I knew who heard it thought it sounded great... This resulted in the dreadful 90s mix by Iggy ,that none of the band liked & even Iggy eventually said it wasn't very good.....

Anybody able to help -I have a UK original 65586 Orange label .The version of 'Search & Destroy' is much different( a very muddy sound) to the cut on the 77 repress & all those that were pressed up to the 96 Remix. I read some time later that Bowie said he was allowed(by Iggy) to remix the disc in 72 as long as he left search& destroy alone- do all the original versions have this mix-the rest of the lps sound is basically the same as the rerelease 'Bowie mix'as it's now known

Regarding the different mix on Search & Destroy ,the first I knew of it was when I listened to it- when the Stooges had a release & price guide in Record collector magazine in the late '80s they said something to effect of 'there's some confusion if more than one mix (of the original) was pressed...but nothing about the very different version of S & D...I'll see if I can find the list & see what it exactly says ( i put in a stooges lp cover somewhere)

I have the same pressing. All i can add is that i bought it in a 2nd hand record shop off Tottenham Crt Rd in the 80's because of the shop written sticker "With inner bag 1st pressing DIFF MIX". I can't remember if i talked to them about it.

I have the spanish edition 1973 cbs 32083, I had been listening to this album in mp3 with headphones, today I put it on vinyl for the first time and I have been amazed by the good sound it has. But the song gimme danger in particular the plucking is true that sounds quite low. Even in penetration haha the sound of the xylophone also seemed to me. In general a fantastic sound. One of the best albums of 70s in my opinion
