The Tin Woodman, also known as the Tin Man or-mistakenly-the Tin Woodsman, is a character in the fictional Land of Oz created by American author L. Frank Baum. Baum's Tin Woodman first appeared in his classic 1900 book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and reappeared in many other subsequent Oz books in the series. In late 19th-century America, men made out of various tin pieces were used in advertising and political cartoons. The Return of the Living Dead is the original soundtrack from the film of the same name, released in 1985 by Enigma Records. The film itself is a horror comedy film written and directed by Dan O'Bannon about a group of teenage punks dealing with a horde of brain-hungry zombies. Because it was a movie soundtrack, and because the movie was new at the time I had seen it in the theatre and rushed to the store to see if I could finally find some music that people I actually identified with listened to, the Wee Three or whatever records actually had this one in stock. Even better than a good intro to some good punk bands, this soundtrack nicely captures the essence of one of the best zombie movies of the 80's-a good predecessor to Shaun of the Dead , in that it is a zombie movie that is very cognizant of the standards of zombie movies and plays around with them.
