Notes

Ice Famine was a Romanian krautrock band from the early 80s. The eponymous first single was never released as the band’s basist’s grief over his dead dog was too big for him to focus on the music and the band decided to close down.

The original tapes was found 30 years later and are now donated to Lamour records to be freely reworked, which has now been made by label boss Slim Vic and Wild Invalid.

An ice famine was a scarcity of commercial ice, usually during the hot summer months, common before the widespread use of the refrigerator. It often resulted in the widespread spoilage of food and medicines, and in some instances in death from heat stroke. In 1918 ammonia was diverted to manufacturing munitions which led to a shortage of commercial ice.
