Un drôle d’objet que voilà ! Projet solo très personnel du clermontois Nicolas Alkariis, le metal de H.O.P.E. propose une recette sonore assez unique, à savoir une sorte de mix de black très soft, d’instrumentations tout droit sorties du « Nexus Polaris » de Covenant et de power-pop tristounette. Ce mélange assez peu commun devrait dérouter, mais que nenni : c’est très bien fait, tout s’enchaîne à la perfection ; les passages rock pianistique aseptisé d’obédience Muse (le mimétisme vocal est assez frappant, et pas mal fait du tout – le refrain de « My Own Interior Way » est absolument magnifique) côtoient la voix black narrative et les passages metalliques de façon très naturelle. Le mix assez easy-listening, les quelques incursions electroïdes et les orchestrations très présentes parfois quasi-Sighiennes rendent le tout très agréable à ingurgiter
