I started buying Herbert von Karajans classical albums back in the early 1970s, partly because at that time the price was reasonable - I dont know if the music business was less profit-driven back then, or if he simply had not yet been recognized as the giant of the conducting world he is now acknowledged to be. My other reason for buying von Karajan was that he always seemed to have an album out containing the exact piece for which I was searching.
