Short intro

Hear 'n Aid was a charity record recorded by a large ensemble of 40 heavy metal musicians, and released in 1986. The project was organized by Ronnie James Dio, Jimmy Bain, and Vivian Campbell, all from the band Dio. Proceeds from the album were used to raise money for famine relief in Africa. The 40 musicians which had been gathered together by Dio recorded the single Stars together the rest of the album was filled out with eight other tracks, several of which were contributed by artists who were. Stars Hear n Aid track 1. Veteran vocalist Ronnie James Dio formed the Hear 'n Aid project in 1985 to raise money for famine relief all over the world. It didn't get much media coverage and it didn't achieve blockbuster sales like Band Aid or USA for Africa, but Hear 'n Aid did generate a respectable amount of revenue. On May 20 and 21, 1985, 40 hard rock musicians joined together as Hear 'n Aid at A&M Records Studios and recorded Stars. This dramatic epic features plenty of vocal gymnastics and guitar shredding. HEAR N AID Released in January 1986 Polygram. Review: Once upon a time, heavy metal was seen as the bastard child of society with nothing but evildoers corrupting the minds of young innocent lives. I am not sure how hard it was for Dio, Campbell and Bain to recruit all the all-star heavy metal musicians that ended up comprising Hear n Aid but it would have been even better to have such greats as guitarist Eddie Van Halen playing his guitar solo alongside Malmsteen and Lynch.
