Of course, the band is also capable of crushing waves of sound, though rather than work against the more tranquil moments, the heavy is perfectly of a piece with the rest of the band's noise. Reviewed in the United States on October 2, 2007. If you are a fan of the organic drone of Growing, be aware that this album is NOT that sound. This is more like some glitchy, fragmented, skipping-disc version of Growing. The sound is mostly electronic and not at all fluid like most of their catalog. The pure drone of 2004's Soul of The Rainbow And The Harmony Of Light on Kranky, for example, was solid but had nowhere near this amount of personality a more restless music, away form the quest for the perfect harmonic sequence, is where Growing's strengths lie. Nothing else on Vision Swim quite approaches the knockout power of On Anon but all of it is at least pretty good. Emseepee also creates a bedrock bass rhythm off which playful bits of distortion pivot, Lightfoot turns white guitar noise into a wave pool, pushing forward with discrete surges of feedback
