Kerplunk stylized as Kerplunk is the second studio album by American rock band Green Day, released on December 17, 1991 by Lookout Records. Kerplunk was Green Day's last independent release on the Lookout Records label, and was also the first album to feature Tré Cool on drums. The album sold 10,000 copies its first day and became Lookout's biggest selling release. Kerplunk is the second full-length album by punk rock band Green Day. It was released on January 17, 1992 on Lookout Records. Kerplunk was their last release on an independent label and was also the first album to feature their current band lineup, with Tré Cool on drums. The album went on to become one of the bestselling independent albums ever, selling 10,000 units on the day of its release. Released in December 1991, Green Days second studio album, Kerplunk, was the first to feature drummer Tré Cool. together the two throw in a variety of guitar-less breaks that would later help to define the bands sound for many warm and never letting the beat go. Kerplunk marked their last release on Lookout Records, and received acclaim for being among the best selling independently released albums of all time. No official singles accompanied the album, and versions released on CD. Kerplunk, despite the production value of a tin can, sounds like seasoned vets playing what they play best on a level above everyone else. The songs off Kerplunk run with a furious speed and affect with the heart of a teenager. Opener 2000 Light Years Away sets the tone of the album with a driving beat by brand new drummer Tre Cool it was funny in 1991, and a simple guitar line that would become trademark from Billie Joe.
