Short intro
21st Century Breakdown is the eighth studio album by American rock band Green Day, released on May 15, 2009 through Reprise Records. Green Day commenced work on the record in January 2006 and forty-five songs were written by vocalistguitarist Billie Joe Armstrong by October 2007, but the band members did not enter studio work until January 2008. The album is a rock opera much like their previous album American Idiot 2004. Armstrong has described the album as a snapshot of the era in which we live. 21st Century Breakdown is the eighth studio album by American punk rock band Green Day, released through Reprise Records on May 15, 2009. It is the band's second rock opera, following American Idiot, and its first album to be produced by Butch Vig. Vocalist and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong described 21st Century Breakdown as a snapshot of the era in which we live as we question and try to make sense of the selfish manipulation going on around us, whether it be the government, religion, media or frankly any form of authority. The span of nearly five years between America read more. Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt, and drummer Tré Cool push Idiot's conceits even further on 21st Century Breakdown, a slick, class-obsessed, 70-minute, 18-song, three-act cycle that trades Bush-era indignation for Obama-era resignation. Read full review. Such quality care is evident throughout most of Breakdown, and, as such, individual moments positively glisten, even if the widescreen view of Breakdown feels a bit muddled and confused, the whole actually being less than the sum of its parts. Green Day only released one good album and a few cool 45s. That was album Kerplunk Maybe youll recognize this song. I do apologize. Its late at night and Green Day is a touchy subject for me. I suppose anyone who has ever been a fan of a band that later ended up sucking donkey butt on the internet, for money might appreciate my fervor. But mostly, all this ranting was simply to keep Quora from collapsing my answer. I have no problem with Green Day not really. Im a huge fan of Pnk. Who am I to judge . American Idiot: 1. Like American Idiot, 21st Century Breakdown is a Seventies-style epic, telling the story of two young punk lovers on the run in the wreckage of post-Bush America. The heroes are Christian and Gloria, two kids sold out by the church East Jesus Nowhere , the state 21 Guns and every adult theyve ever believed in We are the desperate in the declineRaised by the bastards of 1969 . All over the album, Green Day combine punk thrash with their newfound love of classic-rock grandiosity - one moment theyre quoting Bikini Kill, the next theyre wailing away like its the final minute of Jungleland. American Idiot is the seventh studio album by the American punk rock band Green Day. It was released on September 21, 2004 through Reprise Records and was produced by longtime collaborator Rob Cavallo. In mid-2003, the band began recording songs for an album titled Cigarettes and Valentines, but the master tracks were stolen, and the band decided to start recording a new album rather than re-record Cigarettes and Valentines. American Idiot. Green Day. Released September 21, 2004. American Idiot Tracklist. American Idiot Lyrics. Perhaps the last true mainstream punk album in a sea of pop-punk , American Idiot captures the spirit of punk reckless youth, substance abuse, passionate but short-lived love and dissatisfaction with an increasingly hypocritical and authoritarian government. Green Day was originally recording an album called Cigarettes and Valentines, but after the master tapes were stolen, Green Day ought to start over from scratch and created the album we see today. The band took a three-month break and started from scratch to make American Idiot instead. 21st Century Breakdown.
