In 1956, RCA Victor released an ambitious, if imperfect, five-LP set that focused on U. performances by Glenn Miller's Army Air Force Band all of the material, which spanned July 1943-June 1944, was recorded before the orchestra moved to England. That five-LP set drove Miller's hardcore fans wild they were thrilled to get their hands on a lot of recordings that had not been commercially available prior to 1956. Some are recordings of live performances that were broadcast nationally from New York on Uncle Sam Presents and I Sustain the Wings, two World War II-era radio programs. Vinyl - LP - used - NMNM - Soundcraft Records - Jamaica - lp 1004 - - - LP-1 - Label: Soundcraft Records Recording from June 10-1944, April 15-1944 - NM, 1942, Glenn Miller and his all-star group of hard-swinging patriots joined the Army and formed a band to boost morale at home and abroad. This outstanding four-CD set includes music originally released by the band in 1956, as well as more than 20 previously unreleased tracks and Miller's song introductions. Recorded in New York, most of the tracks come 'I Sustain the Wings' sessions in late 1943 and 1944 - before the band left for Europe. The orchestra is in superb form. I Sustain the Wings is a 1943 big band and jazz instrumental co-written by Glenn Miller. The instrumental was the theme for the eponymous radio program broadcast on CBS and NBC from 1943 to 1945. I Sustain the Wings was composed by Captain Glenn Miller, John Chalmers Chummy MacGregor, Private Sol Meyer, and MSgt. Norman Leyden. The song was copyrighted on February 11, 1943. This was the theme music for the radio program that was broadcast weekly on Saturday on NBC from September 18, 1943 to June. Glenn Miller and His Orchestra was an American swing dance band formed by Glenn Miller in 1938. Arranged around a clarinet and tenor saxophone playing melody, and three other saxophones playing harmony, the band became the most popular and commercially successful dance orchestra of the Swing era and one of the greatest singles charting acts of the 20th centuryRelated to Glenn Miller And His Army Air Force Orchestra - I Sustain The Wings Shows - June 10-1944 April 15-1944
