GI is the debut and only studio album by American punk rock band the Germs. Often considered the first hardcore punk album, it was released in the United States in October 1979 on Slash Records with catalog number SR 103. The album was later released in Italy in 1982 by Expanded Music with the catalog EX 11. The album's title is an acronym for Germs Incognito, an alternate name the band used to obtain bookings when their early reputation kept them out of Los Angeles-area clubs. Each Sunday, Pitchfork takes an in-depth look at a significant album from the past, and any record not in our archives is eligible. Today, we revisit Germs GI, a touchstone of California punk. Trying to get the straight story of Los Angeles punk band Germs is like trying to piece together the timeline of a debaucherous night out: The specifics are blurry, the headache is blinding, and everybody has a different take on what happened. One lucid fact pierces through the hangover: Germs were a mess of contradictions. GERMS, Germs G. Germs GI, Germs G. The Germs, The Germs GI. 아티스트 편집. 마켓플레이스 판매 품목 2,170개. Release group by Germs. were an American punk rock band from Los Angeles, California, United States, originally active from 1976 to 1980. The band's main early lineup consisted of singer Darby Crash, guitarist Pat Smear, bassist Lorna Doom, and drummer Don Bolles. They released only one album, 1979's GI, produced by Joan Jett, and were featured the following year in Penelope Spheeris' documentary film The Decline of Western Civilization, which chronicled the Los Angeles punk movement. Released October 1979. GI Tracklist. The only studio album by controversial and highly influential punk band the Germs, GI is often considered to be one of the first hardcore punk albums, if not the first. Produced by Joan Jett, the album was an eventual critical success and commercial failure, bringing still more notoriety and heaps more respect to the band then best known for their outrageous, unlistenable live shows. Within a year lead singer and songwriter Darby Crash would be dead, but the legacy of this album lived on through the 80s and beyond
