Liquid Swords became the fourth solo release from members of the Clan following 36 Chambers, and GZAs second solo release overall. The album was instantly regarded as a classic, cementing GZAs reputation as a lyrical mastermind and furthering RZAs reputation as a producer. For hip-hop fans growing up in the 20th century, Liquid Swords needs no introduction. It's simply a perfect match between raw lyrical muscle by GZA and dynamic production courtesy of RZA. Overall, though, Liquid Swords is possibly the most unsettling album in the Wu canon even ahead of Ol' Dirty Bastard, and it ranks with Enter the Wu-Tang 36 Chambers and Raekwon's Only Built 4 Cuban Linx as one of the group's undisputed classics.
