No One Rides for Free is Southern Californian stoner rock band Fu Manchu's debut album. This is the only record with Mark Abshire on bass guitar he One Rides for Free is Southern Californian stoner rock band Fu Manchu's debut album. This is the only record with Mark Abshire on bass guitar he was replaced by Brad Davis. Mark Abshire later teamed up with Eddie Glass and Ruben Romano to form the power trio Nebula. This album is produced by later Fu Manchu and then Kyuss drummer Brant Bjork. Album 1993 8 Songs. Where Fu Manchu borrowed from heavy rock forbearers like The Melvins, they were the first to make the music fun rather than confrontational. The quartet had grown up in the '70s on the beaches of Orange County, and to them, these squalling riffs reflected a spirit of stoned merriment and surfside flair. Its a party album, without a doubt-one that swings as often as it attacks. No One Rides for Free Fu Manchu. Songs in album Fu Manchu - No One Rides For Free 1994. Fu Manchu - Time To Fly. Time To Fly 03:04. After a number of 45 inch singles and EPs, SoCal stone rockers Fu Manchu inaugurated their career properly with 1994's No One Rides for Free, a solid collection of groove-laden tunes that would establish a formula the band would hardly touch for years to come. Produced by then-Kyuss drummer Brant Bjork who would officially join the band three years later, this is a confident debut from the get go. Fu Manchu. Time to Fly, 03:04. Show and Shine, 02:54. Has anyone come across a color variant that's a dark red almost purple with grey marbling? I imagine it's part of the 2014 reissues but I can't find any info about it. I'm looking to sell it so if you have any more info or are interested please let me know.

How can you tell if you have the red or black copy? Should I assume that if there is a UPC label (with the # 0723721052515) over the LPs original UPC (708474002020) that it is the black second pressing? Selection number is BL 10.

Thing is, with the original black/red 1st pressings there's no difference in the matrix numbers. I mean, there's no way of telling if it's black or red until you open it up... =O/

Hey Craig, no probs... the blue edition of Daredevil turns up on ebay every now and then, it's not that elusive. You could also try Netsounds.com too... Or Eil.com... Or Gemm.com, they're the main rare record webstores that I can think of really. Sometimes it may crop up with a random Google search. And you shouldn't really pay any more than £30/40 ($60/80ish) for it in my opinion. =O) Best regards,Nicko

Ok, here we go: No One Rides For Free and Daredevil, the 1st 1000 copies were coloured (red and blue respectively). There were more pressed on black vinyl, possibly another 1000 maybe 2000 maybe 3000 - I'm not certain. It's likely it was another 1000 as they're not seen that often on ebay or in stores. In Search Of... I'm certain only a 1000 copies were pressed, as I saw an advert for it years ago in a magazine and it stated 1000 copies. And as far as I know, there are no Euro pressings. It was solely US press on Bong Load (for NORFF & Daredevil) and Mammoth (for In Search Of...). Recently, in the last few years there was a re-press of NORFF & Daredevil on black winyl (I think it was thicker wax), and in the last few months there was a repress of In Search Of... on swirly blue vinyl. Only reason why I know this is through what I've seen on the net myself ages ago.
