Going Down At Onkel Po's. Released: Jul 2015. Freddie King September 3, 1934 December 28, 1976 was an American blues guitarist and singer. He recorded several hits for Federal Records in the early 1960s. His soulful and powerful voice and distinctive guitar style inspired many musicians, particularly guitarists. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012. King based his guitar style on Texas blues and Chicago blues influences. His best-known recordings include the early instrumentals Hide Away 1961, San-Ho-Zay, 1961. This is my first Freddie King album and more than likely not the last. I have to mention the whole show closes on the 16 minute blues classic Stormy Monday written by T-Bone Walker a personal favorite of mine Albert Collins does a great one too, Funky Blues Live album. It is surprising Freddie King did not get into Rock-n-roll hall of fame before 2012 mentioned in very brief liner notes. Freddie King and his band set the place on fire and then burn it down to the ground. The energy is just incredible and they keep the intensity all the the way through every track. This is the gold standard for what live blues should sound likeRelated to Freddie King - Going Down At Onkel Po's
