Franz Ferdinands new album Always Ascending is out now. Right Action is my favorite track. It is classic FF, with a steadily driving beat and strong bass. Evil Eye has a beat that reminds me of some earlier period, probably late 70's or early 80's. It has the feel of the Franz Ferdinand and You Could Have So Much Better put together, with the catchy vocal work like in the first album, with the more of a pop like sound from You Could Have So Much Better. The album is one that you can put in and listen to the whole way through and not get board, but Bullet, Evil Eye and Brief Encounters stand out to me as being catchier. Still, neither album had Franz Ferdinand's impact. On Right Thoughts Right Words Right Action, it often feels like the band channeled the energy they used to spend on expanding their sound into making this the most concentrated burst of what attracted fans to them in the first place. Right Action sets the tone, seemingly curbing the experimental tendencies of Franz's past two albums in favor of angular guitars and alternately snazzy and sleazy brass. Like most of the band's best songs, there's a.
