According to John Boven's book "Rhythm & Blues In New Orleans" the original singer on "Sea Cruise" actually was Huey Smith, but Ace label owner Johnny Vincent decided to just keep Huey's backing track and let Frankie Ford overdub the vocals. One has to admit Frankie did a fantastic job here. "Sea Cruise" is one of the ultimate New Orleans party records - totally uplifting, complete with ship's bells, foghorns, boogie piano, a driving horn section and a beat that anticipated "ska". No wonder the Jamaicans at that time were listening closely to the records coming out of Crescent City...
The B-side, "Roberta", with it's relentless male backing choir is just as good!

"Feel like jumping, baby won't you join me please?" - if you're not already dead, you certainly will!
