Softly, as I Leave You is a 1964 studio album by American singer Frank Sinatra. This album was Sinatra's first tentative attempt to come to terms with rock and roll music. Arranged by Ernie Freeman, Softly, as I Leave You, Then Suddenly Love and Available are definitely stabs at incorporating rock and roll into Sinatra's middle-of-the-road pop sound, featuring drum kits, backing vocals and keyboards. Then Suddenly Love. Softly, as I Leave You is a popular Italian song, originally titled Piano, composed by Tony De Vita with Italian lyrics by Giorgio Calabrese, translated into English by Hal Shaper. It was originally an Italian success by Mina, entitled Piano Softly. Mina published a recording of the song first as a single in 1960 and later as well on an EP and on three LPs. Frank Sinatra on his 1964 album Softly, as I Leave You. The Fleetwoods on their 1964 album Before And After. John Gary released a version on his 1967 album John Gary at Carnegie Hall. Softly, as I Leave You is a 1964 studio album by Frank Sinatra it was his forty-fourth studio album. It was also Sinatra's first attempt at singing close to early rock and roll music.
