With this release, pianist Frank Kimbrough and vibist Joe Locke garner superior support from woodwind ace Tim Ries and percussionist Jeff Ballard, who lend their wares on several tracks. To that end, these folks bring a lot of expertise to the table, witnessed by affiliations with composerarranger Maria Schneider and the Jazz Composers Collective, amid first-call session status. Joseph Paul Locke born March 18, 1959 is an American jazz vibraphonist. A native of Palo Alto, California, Locke grew up in Rochester, New York. His father taught music. When Locke was eight years old he began learning drums and piano, then started on vibraphone five years later. He did some work at Chapel Hill before moving to Washington, D. in 1980.
