The Colour and the Shape is the second studio album by American rock band Foo Fighters, released on May 20, 1997, by Roswell and Capitol Records. It marked the official debut of the Foo Fighters as a band, as their eponymous 1995 debut album was primarily recorded by frontman Dave Grohl and producer Barrett Jones as a demo. It was loosely conceived by Grohl as a concept album which documented the beginning and end of a romantic relationship. The first album they tried to find their sound, and on Color & The Shape they found it. My absolute favorite Foo Fighters song of all time is Hey, Johnny Park, so that was a huge reason why i bought this album. Foo Fighters second album, named after their tour managers rationale for buying a bowling pin from a thrift store I like the colour and I like the shape , was the chance for a band that had cut their teeth on tour to make their mark on record.
