Fin is the debut studio album by American R&B singer Syd. It was released on February 3, 2017, by Columbia Records. After Ego Death, the members of the Internet decided that they would venture on solo projects to flesh out their individual styles. When speaking about what the album would entail, Syd stated: This album is not that deep, but I feel like this is my descent into the depth I want the band to get me, this is like an in-between thing - maybe get a song on the radio, maybe make some. Fin de Siècle is the sixth album by The Divine Comedy, released in 1998. The fin. is a 2 piece indie rock band from Kobe, Japan, currently consisting of lead vocalist Yuto Uchino and bassistformer drummer Kaoru Nakazawa. Uchino and Nakazawa started the band in 2012 with guitarist Ryosuke Odagaki and original bassist Takayasu Taguchi, and released their first song Faded Light on SoundCloud in November of the same year. The band's style has been described as a blend of synth-pop and shoegaze from the 80's-90's with nowadays American indie-pop and chillwave. Fin is, indeed, a fresh start. Stepping away momentarily from the Internet finds her as comfortable and focused as shes ever sounded. This is my descent into the depth I want the band to get to, she told the FADER last year. Working with a variety of superstar producers, like MeLo-X and Hit-Boy, she leans on her different influences-boastful hip-hop, hippie neo-soul, sensual R&B-without ever losing the thread that ties them together: her inventive songwriting and magnetic personality, which leaps from the speakers every time she opens her mouth. Syd has perfected a pose, a slouching shrug and studied distance that makes her appealing, if a little remote. The first time I saw Odd Future live, with an 8 ticket at the 400-capacity Studio at Webster Hall in 2010, there wasnt much indication that the wiry skate rats onstage could blossom into the auteurs theyve become in just a few years. Tyler, the Creator was a bratty iconoclast with a voice denser than his muscle mass, Frank Ocean was a hook man singing into a powerless mic, and the groups in-house engineer Syd tha Kyd Bennett was an aux-cord maestro. Amid a cloud of dulled synths, Fin opens on self-assured footing with Shake Em Off, as we see Syd lifting herself up through braggadocio as she bends her pop influences to her liking.
