Short intro
Farafina is a music and dance group from Burkina Faso, established in 1978. The eight-member group is Burkina Faso's best known musical group, and one of Africa's most internationally prominent musical groups. Farafina was founded in the southern city of Bobo Dioulasso by the balafon player Mahama Konaté, a member of the Senufo ethnic group and a performer with Burkina Faso's national ballet. Farafina is essentially a spirtual concept, an idea of the music of Burkina Faso, formerly Upper Volta, which is twice as big as England but with a population of scarcely seven million. In Bobo-Dioulasso, the art of the griots still thrives today, just as it did during the time of the ancient Manding empire. Faso Denou. Jun 2019. contact, help. Contact Farafina. Farafina - Faso Denou, released in 1993. The hand-tuned, goat-skin drums that made Continental Drift the most interesting cut on the Rolling Stones' Steel Wheels were played by the group Farafina from the West African nation of Burkina-Faso formerly Upper Volta. Farafina's ability to fuse melody and rhythm with their tuned percussion instruments makes their own new U. album, Faso Denou, a delightful treat for Western ears entranced by African polyrhythms but reluctant to give up their desire for harmony.
