Johns has worked with artists including Ryan Adams, Kings of Leon, Paul McCartney, Ray LaMontagne, Tom Jones, Kaiser Chiefs, Rufus Wainwright, The Boxer Rebellion, Crowded House, Lauren Hoffman, The Vaccines, Laura Marling, The Staves, and Crosby, Stills and Nash. If you are familiar with Ethan Johns' other work as a solo artist, you'll find this album contains music that is very 'familiar' from the outset. Mostly acoustic guitars with percussion and strings backing, with a preference for clear, sharp 'live' ticks so a bit of echo on the vocals, sounds of fingers sliding on strings on the fretboard etc. The style is like a soft version of Richard Thompson's acoustic style, overlaid with the close-picked guitar work of someone like Bruce Cockburn.
