Short intro

Come Away with ESG is the 1983 debut album by American post-punk band ESG. Released by 99 Records, the album incorporates songs from ESG's first EPs, ESG and ESG Says Dance to the Beat of Moody. Ed Bahlman discovered ESG while serving as the judge for a talent show and became the band's unofficial manager. Tony Wilson from Factory Records approached the band after a performance at Hurrah in the Upper West Side of Manhattan, and three days later they began recording with Martin Hannett. The recordings. Stripped down to the most basic of drum beats and rudimentary basslines, Come Away confirms the notion that the real rhythm is what happens between the beats. The staggering gait takes its cues from post-punk outfits . and Gang of Four, while the repeated vocal chorus is reminiscent of doo wop's street corner soul. ESG come away 1983. Come Away. The sample-friendly opus thats the inspiration for hip-hop, house and post punk. Music that falls outside of the no wave, new wave and post punk library, its for the dance floor but its not funk, theres no horns, no driving organ its the opposite of Sly And The Family Stone but no less cool and no less groovy. A lasting document of their unique brand of minimal funk that would influence subsequent post-punk, hip-hop, and dance music acts. Stripped down to the most basic of drumb. Come Away With ESG. ESG 22-11-2016. Total duration:32 min. Genre: Post-Punk. ESG debut is a dance punk heavily inspired by NY sound of its time drawing from elements of soul and funk and No Wave to create an infectious little record which slowly gets your feet moving with those catchy repetitive tunes. I think I really prefer this repress than the original. Here, the bass is enormous. For ESG, it's one of the most important instrument, same than Wooble bassline on PIL "metal box". If you don't mix it louder, damn, there is a problem.I have buy first the 99 records repress, who is the same than the original 1st press. I was really disapointed by the sound. I finally resale it, and find this week the soul jazz repress with the excellent mastering of Howie Weinberg. What a pleasure!
If this release is LOUDER it only means the signal was COMPRESSED/BRICK walled. Not good!
i do agree 100% !
